A Trip to Innovation and Creativity Hub

tr

Maryam Gharib,

AUE, Dubai:

On Wednesday 11 of April, I and my classmates and teachers from communication skill course visited Dubai international government achievement exhibition for meeting people and see their projects and inventions.

The young man, that I have met at the first,  is ABDULLAH ALSHAMSHI. I talked to him because he attracted me when he was standing near his project that was a skeleton.

Then I asked him these questions:

Maryam: what’s your name and how old are you?

Abdullah: My name is Abdullah Alshamsi, I’m 11.

“I pointed my finger to the skeleton and I asked him what this is?”

“Abdullah is laughing and answering my question by these points”

Abdullah: He is mister Hub. I created him to help pilots to avoid birds that cause an accident.

It’s like a” bird scarecrow” but not for the land, but it’s for the sky.

Maryam:  What is the origin of this idea and why did you name it mister HUB?

Abdullah: My father is a flight engineer, and he is always talking to us about the problem and he shared ideas about planes, then I created this thing.

With regards to the name of mister HUB and if it is related to Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed “Fazaa”, Abdullah explains:

“He has a robot in his gym and his name Mister Hob and I chose to name it like him, but I changed one letter.”

Maryam: Last question, are you looking for something big in your future related to these things or it’s just like a school activity?

Abdullah: Inshallah I will work more in these things to develop our country and create intelligence things that get our country name high in the whole world.

Then I had a short interview with Nenad Banjanin who presented a new boat that the police use.

It’s called the Self-driving boat. Our conversation was about the boat and how it works. It will protect and deny access to maritime shipping in protected and restricted areas.

I asked Nenad about the challenges that might face.

He told me that nothing wrong is going with them, but they really care about not ignoring the control area when the boat is already in the water. That was the only the thing that they were afraid of.
