Opportunity and support, the two aspects provided the most to me while studying at AUE. As a student, I find the opportunity to participate in various competitions and have the ability to write and have their papers published very possible. Being involved as students in such experiences changes our perception and how to take on the professional lifestyle.
I myself have written papers and competed in several competitions. I was able to compete in a public speaking competition arranged by the Emirates Environmental Group two years in a row. The experience of standing before a large crowd and attempting to not only deliver a point, but to convince all the attendant to take action or at least consider your words is an extremely difficult job to do yet I find it to be one that is important for any person wanting to become of a high position professionally. I have been taking part in plenty of competitions and conferences over the past five to six years and ones already involved working with Emirates environmental group and that has given me the boost to stand forward in-front of such a crowd and deliver a piece, one that aimed at spreading the awareness of overpopulation vs over consumption and another focusing on the different possible sources for renewable energy.
Sustainability and technology are always topics that interest me and I was very able to express my thoughts and opinions on them through different papers I have written and projects build. Dr. Sabina has again supervised and shown me solid support to publish my first paper discussing the role of a smart city towards a strong and sustainable future through the use of technology and biomimicry to fully be in sync with our environment. Other opportunities involved developing the project in the sectors of education and tourism.
It is an opportunity and experience to be had while writing papers and participating in competitions with varying purposes, objectives, and challenges, and then to receive support from the instructors all way long.
