Every culture around the world has its own communication strategy that is somehow changed by people from one generation to another. In my case, the Lebanese culture has somehow a strange way of communication between interpersonal relationships. Therefore, I have created this poster which explain several examples of the “unprofessional interpersonal relations” between people in the same city or village.
Let’s start off with my hometown located in the south, in which some phrases are used but cannot be understood by different people from different cities and villages in Lebanon. For example, “How are you doing my blood” which is an extremely expressive statement that shows how close two individuals are with each other. Another example which is mainly used in the main capital Beirut who always try to show their knowledge and somehow try to show off their different ways and languages they can communicate with “Hi, Kifak? Cava? “. On the northern part of Lebanon, Baalbak which also has a very decent and people who remain loyal to their culture and way of communicating; and that’s why they never changed accent in which only Baalbak citizens understand. As you can see on the poster below, there’s a red line between Beirut and Baalbak which shows that the communication between them is very different and not easily understandable for either cities. On the other hand, the yellow line shows that the southern and northern part of Lebanon have a somehow similar way of interpersonal communication that is easily understood.
